Beastie Buddies
Murphy and Dugan were found wandering the highway US-84 in Texas. These boys were clearly dumped by someone and obviously had a home although not a very good one. They had no microchip and there was no lost and found posted in any of the shelters or rescues in a 200 mile radius of where we found them. The vet believes Murphy is 3-5 years old possibly and Dugan is 2 or under. Murphy is dominant and alpha of the two but is very insecure and has absolutely been abused to “teach” him the manners he does have. Dugan is an attention craving friendly boy and has submissive tendencies but certainly has his line. We don’t know if these boys are brothers, father and son, or not related at all. They are definitely each other’s pals but they resource guard, people guard and have had a couple scuffles since bringing them home. We feel like these two could be kept together if they have consistent training and attention, constantly. They are both friendly to other dogs — but, as stated previously, they will guard and display some aggression. If they are adopted together, they will need to be the only animals in your house and they MUST have constant training and reinforcement of good habits. They may suffer some depression if separated, but they both seem to do fantastic one on one and we think they will bounce back quickly and be very happy to have attention all to themselves. They both will chase cats and we don’t feel that they can be trusted with a cat in the house. They have not had any close experience with children. They watched kids playing in the park and were interested but also on alert. They love walks! They love to be snuggled on. They are very very sweet to humans and have met our neighbors enthusiastically and accept new people very easily. Over all, we think these boys are very sweet and can be an excellent pet provided they get the attention they need. These dogs will take work and dedication but their lives are so worth it! They have been fully vetted, microchipped, vaccinated and neutered. They are ready for their forever home!
